Tumulus

wood, steel, plastic, brass and electric motors
4 ft. x 15 ft. x 15 ft
2018

Initially designed during prototyping of Locus, Tumulus was completed in late 2018 and was first exhibited in the Hunter Invitational IV at the Hunter Museum of American Art. Consisting of three units with each unit measuring five feet in diameter, the total assemblage is triangular in arrangement with a footprint that is around fifteen feet per side. The gradient color scheme is inspired by the sight of fresh grass against charred soil and is meant to evoke a shock of tall grass upon an earthen mound or the undulating twist of kelp in an ocean current.
